Last week I took a trip to Chicago to cheer on my run buddy who was running the Chicago Marathon. I ran the marathon in 2017 and have since retired from running 26.2. I decided to run the International Chicago 5k on Oct 12. This was my second time running the Chicago International 5k. This year it was so cold. I am so glad that I brought my winter running clothes since I have not needed the in ATL yet.

Race expo/packet pick up

While the race expo was combined with the Chicago Marathon expo, the bibs were mailed to participants before the race. The Chicago Marathon expo had quick and easy bib pick up. There were many vendors (I bought Sweaty Bands) and photo props.

The Race

The race started at 7:30 am on Saturday morning at Daley Plaza. We were corralled by our pace. It was so cool to see all the different countries that were represented at the race. The course was mostly flat with a few inclines.

The finish was so much better than it was in 2017. I had no issues crossing the finish line. I finished in 35:32 and received a sweet medal. My only disappointment for the race was that they ran out of hats.
